Amenity Analysis - DryGuy DX-Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer

The DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer is a great addition to your STR property. Your guests will love this amenity.

Selecting the correct amenities for your vacation property is an essential component of your rental business success. By adding to your guests' experience, you will get more bookings, improve your reviews, and have more repeat customers.

We have been using the DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer in our STR (short term rental) units for the past year. They have proven to be an exceptional addition to our properties. Our property listings on VRBO, Airbnb, and Booking.com rank consistently high due in part to the addition of great amenities such as this.

Before investing in the DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer, our guests would often dry their wet items by placing them on our radiator heater. The result would be stains left on the radiator after the guest's items had melted to it. We knew we had to find a solution, so we purchased the DryGuy Dryer. What follows is our honest product review.

Savant's Findings

Here is a wrap-up of our findings after testing it out at our ski condo. We will take a deeper dive into some of our favorite features as well.

Vacation Rental Savant provides their pro's and con's of the DryGuy Forced Air Boot Dryer and Garment Dryer. It is a valuable additions to a VRBO or Airbnb rental property.

Simultaneous Garment Drying

Our favorite feature of DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer is the ability to dry up to four clothing articles at once. That means you dry your boots in the back and your gloves upfront. It comes with an attachment for drying large boots, which is effectively a long sleeve to reach the tall boots' bottom.

Advertised dry time is one to three hours, depending on the item's size and moisture level. For my official review trial, we completely soaked a pair of Men's large ski gloves and my size ten men's pack boots. We submerged them in the sink, so they were dripping wet when I placed them on the dryer. We set the timer to the maximum time of three hours and let it run. We checked in periodically, and at the end of the three-hour cycle, both the gloves and the boots were slightly damp. An hour later, they were dry.

Under normal conditions at our ski condo, we have found the typical dry time to be one to two hours. The basis for this time is damp, not soaked clothing articles.

Operates At a safe Temperature For Garments

The DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer provide heat to 105-degrees F (40.5-degrees C), making it safe for use with all garment types material. Drying can be with or without heat. This low-temperature setting does create longer times, but it is the intention of the manufacturer.

Many custom boots like those used for skiing have molded liners for a more comfortable fit. High-temperature dryers can damage these liners, which is why the DryGuy is willing to sacrifice dry time for safety.

This low-temperature drying also provides peace of mind. Unlike competitor models, there is no risk of fire from overheating.

The DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot Dryer and Garment Dryer is an excellent amenity to add value to your vacation rental property.

Quiet Bower Motor

A concern that we had when we first purchased this unit was noise. We did not want something that sounded like a hairdryer running for several hours, especially at night. Much to our relief, the blower motor for the DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer is surprisingly quiet. We would compare it to the noise level of a desk fan. During our review trial, we had a movie playing in the same room with the dryer running. We were able to hear the movie without any difficulty.

Prevents Fungus and Bacterial Growth

The constant wearing of boots in damp can cause bacteria, mold, and fungus to flourish. A bad case of Athlete's Foot is not any fun. Best case scenario, you will end up with some foul-smelling boots. By drying your boots regularly, you can prevent all of these moisture-related maladies. Placing your boots on the DryGuy for an hour in the evening will ensure that you have fresh boots for the next day.

Verified Purchase

I had been toying with the idea of this purchase for about 2 years now. Though it's not overly expensive, I kind of felt like it was an unnecessary luxury. So I've spent years drying my kids boots the old fashioned ways - clothes dryer and heat vents. Listening to the boots clunk around in the dryer is unbearable, and the heat vents really only work if you have a lot of time for the boots to dry before you need them again. I purchased a new dryer a few years ago and was so excited to get the shoe rack with it, only to realize that it does not dry winter boots. I finally caved in and made this purchase. Really glad that I did, and I have used it every day since. It doesn't get so hot that you worry about leaving it unattended, and it dries everything perfectly. My kids boots were really starting to smell like a mixture of mold and stinky feet because they were always damp. Now they dry completely and don't stink anymore. I was a little worried that the airflow would cause the scent to get blown into the air and that I'd be surrounded by the smell of moldy, stinky feet (like how my dryer would stink like really hot rubber and wet, moldy boots), but it doesn't. Would totally recommend!

How About The Negatives?

The only issue that we have had in using the DryGuy DX Forced Air Boot and Garment Dryer for the past year for our STR business is the stiffness of the timer dial. The first time we used it, we thought t was defective as you need to use some force to turn it. It turns out that it is a spring-loaded dial, and the tension is a normal part of the operation.
